![]() ![]() This massive starship with its accentuated vertical design does not feature nacelles as separate components. Owosekun speculates that the new Constitution could support a crew of 2000.How does she come to the unlikely conclusion it is the Constitution class by just looking at it? Just because the ship roughly resembles a classic Constitution class, and in defiance of naval naming tradition? Owosekun identifies the vessel on screen in "Die Trying" as "a new Constitution", although that ship is not named "USS Constitution" and although the screens on the bridge list every 32nd century ship as "vessel unidentified".So we have canon evidence that the Starfleet of the far future would reuse class names. If we squint really hard, we can make out "Constitution class" written under the name of the ship. In "Scavengers", a graphic of the Armstrong is visible on a holographic display. We can see one ship investigating the DMA in "The Examples". The class appears in season 3 as well, but less prominently now. The USS Noble can be identified in "That Hope Is You, Part 2". The ventral side of the USS Armstrong can be seen a bit later in the same episode. This is the USS Excalibur as announced by Eaglemoss for the Official Starships Collection. One new Constitution prominently appears on the viewscreen in "Die Trying", with an appended "-M". Surviving or newly built starships of the class appear repeatedly since DIS: "Die Trying".Several of the ships are visible in the flashback to the moment of the Burn in DIS: "People of Earth". We see the first new Constitution-class vessel as debris in DIS: "That Hope Is You, Part 1", near the planet Hima as well as through Aditya Sahil's window on the relay station. This starship consists of a saucer, two nacelles and a small engineering hull. The class is presumably named for poet Maya Angelou (1928-2014). The surviving ship is purportedly the USS Maathai NCC-325023 (named for Kenyan activist Wangari Maathai) according to officially released production artwork from CBS, although it has not been identified on screen. One remaining vessel (the "flying rainforest" according to Tilly) appears prominently at the Federation Headquarters since DIS: "Die Trying" and is initially so dominant that we might think it *is* the Headquarters. We can see two of these ships explode in the flashback of the Burn in DIS: "People of Earth".This type of a massive torus-shaped vessel contains a complete biosphere. All names and registries according to Starfleet Ships: 2294 to the Future, unless there are definite errors in the book. Not all individual ships listed may have actually appeared on screen. All sizes according to Starfleet Ships: 2294 to the Future. Some designs are huge, although the considerable size differences never really become clear in the series.Appended letters to "legacy" registries are not big exceptions but very common now.Class names are reused now: There is a new Constitution class and a new Intrepid class. On the other hand, it would be a lot more plausible if at least some of the very diverse (and otherwise unreasonably huge) ships had survived the Burn. We may muse that the first two digits of the registry denote the century in which the ships were built.A notable exception is the Mars-class scout. If we go by the exact visual of the flashback in DIS: "People of Earth", the designs of almost all of Starfleet's ship classes date back to the time before the Burn and are 120 years old at the very least. ![]() Nilsson states: "Detecting neutronium alloy fibers. On the topic of hull materials, Tilly says in DIS: "Die Trying": "Some of these hulls are organic, some are completely comprised of holographic containment walls!" And Lt.Most starships seem to have detached nacelles. This part of the database includes Federation/Starfleet starships as well as those of former, current and of possible future member planets. The Federation and Starfleet, on the other hand, are the same organization now. In Star Trek Discovery's 32nd century, many civilizations such as Earth, Ni'Var and Trill have broken away after the Burn and have rejoined the Federation by 3190.
